Founder of Uplifting Bombay Movement, Karman Dawar is a student at Singapore International School, Mumbai, where he studies Math, Physics, and Business Management at a Higher Level. Being someone that is deeply curious about the intersection of civil and mechanical engineering with community impact, Karman’s academic and extracurricular pursuits reflect his desire to work on solutions that address real-world challenges. His work in robotics and AI is something that is matched by his equal social engagement, particularly through his leadership role at the Rotaract Club of Mumbai Anchors; as well as his commitment to his previous school’s Climate Academy initiative which focused on spreading awareness among the youth related to environmental sustainability. Karman consistently seeks to combine his passion for research and innovation with empathy. UBM was thus born, to take this same spirit forward, and support the flood-prone urban slum communities in the city he cherishes and has grown up in. In a way that is not only practical, but also accessible and at its core - human.
